Hemoglobin Testing

Hemoglobin Testing

A hemoglobin (HgB) test is a capillary finger stick blood test to check the level of red blood cells. Red blood cells deliver oxygen to the different parts of the body.

A hemoglobin test is performed to check for low levels of red blood cells. It is routinely done as part of a child’s wellness exam. When the level of red blood cells is low, it's called anemia.

The Noble County Health Department provides this service as part of a well child exam or with a prescription from a physician. The hemoglobin results are recorded at the time of service. The results are faxed to the physician. Insurance will be billed for the service or self -pay rates are available. Hemoglobin testing can be performed daily. Appointments are encouraged, walk-ins are accepted.  For more information, https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/hemoglobin-test/about/pac-20385075
